The Family Life evening conducted last Thursday afternoon/evening was very well attended with 11 families at the Grade 1/2 session, 24 families for the Grade 3/4 and 29 families with the Grade 5/6 session. The feedback was very positive in that it was felt the subject matter was dealt with openly and honestly, yet with great sensitivity. We are extremely grateful to Evan Englezos and Teresa Everett who kindly and capably coordinated this activity, and to Ms Schultz who assisted on the night. This program is offered every second year so it will be 2018 before it returns.
The students’ mid-year reports became available in digital format from your Sentral parent portal on Tuesday afternoon. Thus far, we haven’t heard of anyone encountering problems accessing them. This makes the process much easier and more sustainable. It also means that all parents receive the reports at the same time and on the same date. The semester one reports are designed to track student progress over a period of time and describe what students have achieved against AusVELS. AusVELS is the Victorian developed curriculum based on the Australian curriculum. The student report is the product of an ongoing process of gathering, analysing and reflecting on evidence (students’ learning) whereby our teachers make informed and consistent judgments to improve future learning and development. Please take the time to read the reports carefully and discuss them with your child. A lot of wonderful progress has been made over the first six months of 2016. Please make an appointment to see the appropriate teacher if you have any concerns and want to discuss the content of the progress reports.
