Pastoral Care (CLaS groups)
CLaS Groups
At Boroondara Park, we have adopted a whole school buddy system to help facilitate and support our student welfare and needs, called CLaS groups. CLaS is an acronym for 'CARE, LEARN and SHARE'. It is also the school's motto.
The program includes -
- Meeting at least three times a term for 50 minutes (Tuesday afternoons)
- A group of children ranging from Prep to 6 that meet with one teacher, which remains their CLaS teacher for the rest of their school life.
- This role model is also another 'significant other' that they build a rapport with other than their classroom teacher.
- Each child has numerous buddies at different levels throughout the school rather than at one level.
- A variety of activities relating to the wellbeing focus for the term.
Sessions could include activities such as -
- Role plays
- Show and Tell
- Charades
- Putting on a play
- The environment - gardening around the school
- Outdoor games
- Celebration of special days
- Bounce Back
- Fundraising
- Fitness
- Trust games
- Cooking
