Kinder - Prep
Prep Information
We care about your child’s education and view the enrolment process as a partnership between you the parent, your child’s pre-school and us, Boroondara Park P.S. Our aim is to make the transition from pre-school to primary school a rewarding and satisfying process. With this in mind, we continue to be strategic when planning and implementing our transition program.
A calendar regarding orientation for Prep 2013 is available as well our Prep 2013 Flyer. Both documents have important information regarding upcoming Prep 2013 events. An Information Night (slideshow) is held in early May (14th) with an Open Day (Thursday 23th May) following. A School Readiness Information Night is also held. We hope that these sessions provide the opportunity for parents to experience our school.
Teacher Visits
The Prep teachers at Boroondara Park P.S. frequently visit our local pre schools and have developed excellent professional relationships with local kindergarten teachers. This relationship enables teachers to get to know many of our future students. It also enables us to collaborate with the kinder teachers to ensure we develop programs that promote the most successful transition for every child.
Story Time
Story time is an intrinsic part of our transition program. It provides the opportunities for all pre school children, from any one of our feeder kindergartens, to visit our school. The children participate in an activity run by our Prep teachers. The activity is conducted in the very classrooms they may be in the following year. They also have the opportunity to meet and begin the journey of connecting with our Prep teachers and other children. It also enables parents to get to know each other as they can share afternoon tea while the children are engaged in other activities. We run three Story Time sessions. Two are conducted throughout term three and one in term four.
Orientation program
Our formal orientation program commences later in the year. The program consists of three sessions where both the children and their parents begin to develop their understanding of everyday life at Boroondara Park P.S.
