The school welcomes and encourages the involvement of parents in an effort to optimise the educational opportunities for every child. Effective, two-way communication is vital in this regard. However, to limit disruption to the classroom, parents who wish to discuss aspects of their child’s progress are asked to make an appointment to see their child’s teacher outside teaching hours.
The following documents outline and support our communication procedures:

Fortightly NewsletterThe Boroondara Park Press, available online, is a most important vehicle for disemminating information to the community. It includes reports on recent events and notification of upcoming activities. It includes news from the Principal and the various committees operating throughout the school. The newsletter is emailed to all school families each fortnight on a Friday.
Class RepresentativesEach grade has parent representatives who support the children, assist class teachers and provide an important communication link with other parents within the particular grade.
ReportingThe school recognises the importance of a close liaison and positive communication with parents. Formal parent/teacher interviews are held early in the year. However, parents are welcome to seek an appointment at any time with the Principal and/or staff to discuss any aspect of their children’s schooling.
Comprehensive, detailed written reports are issued to parents twice a year, at the end of terms 2 and 4, providing assessments about the student’s skills and attitudes in each key domain under the Victorian Essential Learning Standards. The opportunity to discuss any issues arising from the report is made available.
Information EveningsSchool information evenings are held regularly to inform parents of current issues within the school.
