iPad Program at BPPS
To engage in the 21st Century, students need the knowledge, skills and confidence to make ICT work for them at school, at home, at work and in their communities. Now in its third year the 1-1 iPad Program covers Years 3 to 6 and has become an integral part of classroom practice at Boroondara Park Primary School. iPads provide functionality and features that mean they are an highly effective and engaging learning tool. At Boroondara Park Primary School we believe that quality teaching is the factor which enables the iPad to be used effectively to improve student motivation, engagement and learning outcomes.
The use of iPads supports and enhances student learning across all areas of the curriculum. At Boroondara Park Primary School students develop and apply ICT knowledge, skills and appropriate social and ethical protocols and practices to investigate, create and communicate.
This term the Digital Learning Team (Claire Brennan – Foundation, Hannah Francis – Grade 1/2, Andy Parthenopoulos – Grade 3/4, Bridget Grundy – Grade 5/6, Llaaneath Poor – Specialist Team and Randal Symons – Assistant Principal) began our work with Apple Australia’s consultant, Laura Meney. The title of the program is ‘Towards Transformation’ with it’s focus on improving student leaning outcomes through the use of ICT (iPad). More importantly it’s about planning learning where our students are engaged, empowered and believe their work matters. We have begun our work utilising two iBook resources. They are ‘Elements of Learning’ and ‘Elements of Leadership’.
